This 100+ year old photograph was literally falling apart!
This 20” x 16” print came to us wrapped in saran wrap. At some point it was taped down to cardboard and saran wrapped to try and preserve it. We carefully removed the saran wrap without causing further damage to the image itself. We did notice the edges literally turning to powder when touched. It was then photographed with a high-resolution camera and that digital file was meticulously gone over restoring the damage caused by time. Time also discolored the original black and white portrait. The client grew up with it being discolored requested that the that the color for the most part be retained. The restored print was printed on acid free paper and if properly cared for should last 300 years! Further down this page we included a short video in a before and after split screen panning over the photograph in close up showing the precise details restored
